Turn Christmas Into Fitmas (Part 2 of 3)
And welcome to part 2 of my 'Turn Christmas into Fitmas' series.
If you haven't checked out part 1 yet, please make sure you do. You can check it out here - https://becomeaplantbasedbabe.com/blogs/news/turn-christmas-into-fitmas-1
The tips on that blog are awesome (if I do say so myself lol) and will literally help stop you having that Christmas blow out.
Now, if you already have checked out that first blog, let's get on to part 2!
4. Eat Before You Go To Functions
This has been a life hack for me for awhile.
Cause once I eat one corn chip with salsa... well watch out snack table you're all mine lol!
So I tend to eat before I go places and pre-plan what I am going to have.
I can hear it now....
"But Amanda, you are taking all the fun out of life"
Well it depends on how you look at it, and what makes you happy.
Sure, if maintaining or staying on track with your health and fitness goals isn't your priority right now... then go for gold. Eat all the foods, drink all the drinks, enjoy your life.
But, if you look in the mirror and aren't satisfied, or you just feel like you need to be healthier, then it is more of a sacrifice to continue being unhappy than to miss out on eating party food.
You know me, I like to have a balanced approach.
And sometimes I'll eat all the food, and sometimes I will make sure to eat before I go.
But I make that decision based on my long term happiness and goals. Not on the heat of the moment.
So if maintaining, or seeing progress is your priority, make yourself a healthy balanced meal before you go to the party. Then enjoy a good time with your friends!
5. Drink More Water
Drinking more water is pretty much my answer to everything.
Kinda like that coconut oil meme....
Most of us don't drink enough of it.
And this can lead to excess cravings, over eating, poor digestion, bad skin and so much more.
So if you are having a night out, drink water between alcoholic beverages.
If you are at a party and the snack table is looking mighty tempting, have a glass of water first to see if you are *actually* hungry.
And even if you do eat something after your water, chances are it will be a much smaller portion because drinking water before a meal has been shown to reduce weight (this was a study discussed by Web MD here).
So don't knock it, I know it's not exciting...
But water is free and it is such an easy thing to do!
6. Food Swap
Do you usually make desserts and meals over Christmas that are super decadent, filled with fat and sugar and all the good stuff???
Well how about swapping them for some healthier options.
I know, I know... you're probably thinking that's boring and totally not in the spirit of Christmas.
But, give them a chance - I am sure you will find some healthier versions of your fave treats.
Or, create some new traditional ones that align with the person you want to be.
Take this chocolate brownie recipe for example (you can check it out here), you can make it healthy or unhealthy depending on your preferences.
And, if you make the healthy version it is all whole food based, so it's a winner!
There are literally so many recipes like this that you can create healthier versions of, the possibilities are endless!
If you let me know in the comments what other recipes you would like to see a healthier version of for Christmas I'll whip it up on my youtube channel for you :)
It just takes a little creativity in the kitchen and knowing what to do.
But you don't have to worry about that, let me remove the stress and figure it out for you!
