9 Simple Ways To Detox Your Body (Part 2 of 3)

Hi!

Welcome to part 2 of my 9 Simple Ways To Detox Your Body Blog series.

If you haven't checked out my first 3 tips in part 1 yet, be sure to do that here first - https://becomeaplantbasedbabe.com/blogs/news/9-simple-ways-to-detox-your-body-part-1-of-3

Once you have gone through part 1, you are ready for part 2....

So let's begin!

4. Cold Showers

Follow up your dry brushing with a cold shower to really get your body energised.

I love doing the Wim Hof Method, and can’t wait to get back to cold showers and the breathing exercises post pregnancy.

Having a cold shower, or ice bath, has many benefits including improved circulation, improved healing, reduction of white fat and more.

If you look up the Wim Hof Method there have been some fantastic studies done on Wim and people he has taught the method including improved immune function, overcoming autoimmune conditions and more.

I know it might feel a little confronting having a cold shower, but after a while you do start to enjoy it and it leaves you feeling energised and focused, ready for the day ahead!

Yes it is a SHOCK but it is a shock you will come to love (or at least have a love/hate relationship with).

5. Cut the daily caffeine, booze and soda

Yes, this one will suck for a lot of you and may even cause you a few headaches when you first start out.

The fact that you are getting a headache from cutting this out, shows that your body is far too dependant on it. Just like crack, you are itching for a fix and your body is having a bit of a tantrum about it.

Cut down slowly if you must, ie. if you are currently having multiple coffees per day, cut down gradually. Or, if you are having a triple shot grande mocha frappuccino, cut it down to a single shot. Same with booze and soda, slowly cut down.

Once you have mastered the cut down phase, then move on to the cut out phase. Try challenge yourself to go as many days as you can without one. It may be one, or it may be ten… whatever you do is awesome.

When you are in the cut out phase try not to focus on “never having it again”. This will make you freak out and feel like having more of it.

Know that you can have one whenever you want, but remind yourself that you are choosing not to, just for the time being.

Once we banish something from our life, it makes us want it more, so it is important to realise you are just trying to go as long as you can and it isn’t totally banished forever. Take it one day at a time.

You can slowly start to reintroduce these things later on if you choose. I still have a small weak coffee in the morning, will have soda very rarely (I usually prefer sparkling water with fruit or kombucha), and drink maybe three or four times per year. The problems arise for your body if you are having larger amounts regularly.

6. Sweat it Out

Sweating and doing exercise will help your body expel toxins via your sweat.
We weren’t designed to be sedentary.

It’s only in the last 40 years or so of our human existence that we have stopped moving as much. This has lead to more chronic disease, obesity rising, rates of depression going up and so many more negative impacts that we are only just starting to realise.

Even in the 50’s and 60’s we were far more active than we are now.

With all this convenience in our lives, we should have more time for exercise.

But, for a lot of us, it seems we have replaced exercise with social media and TV time.

It’s time for this to change.

Some simple steps you can take to get in more exercise:

  • Ride a stationary bike while you watch TV or use social media on your phone.
  • Get up 30 minutes earlier in the morning and go for a walk or do a HIIT circuit
  • Take up a group exercise class or sport (boxing, pole fitness are great choices)
  • Take up a hobby that gets you active (surfing, hiking, kayaking are all great)
  • Get a coach or trainer to help you get motivated and give you a plan
  • Go on a walk during your lunch break at work

Our body needs to move!

The more you move, the better you will feel.

If you hate running, don’t feel like you have to run. In fact, I hate running and will do my best to avoid it.

There are so many options when it comes to exercise, find what works for you and what suits you.

And then, get that heart rate up and get a bit sweaty for maximum results!

Part 3 is live now, you can check it out here - https://becomeaplantbasedbabe.com/blogs/news/9-simple-ways-to-detox-your-body-part-3-of-3

Now remember... you don't have to implement every single one. Some will have more of an impact than others. My key three... always diet, exercise and water - then you can add in the others that you feel drawn to :)
